• Established in 1990, Springhill was Erie region’s first nationally accredited continuing care retirement community (CCRC) offering a vibrant retirement lifestyle paired with a secure plan for the future.    

• Introduced initially by the Hamot Health Foundation, Springhill affiliated with Asbury Communities, Inc., in 2001. Asbury is the 16th largest not-for-profit system of continuing care retirement communities in the United States, operating seven communities in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, and Tennessee.

• Nearly 300 people age 55 plus live on the Springhill campus in 122 residential living apartments, 36 Garden Homes, 35 personal care apartments, and 60 rehabilitation and nursing care residences. The Woodlands Memory Support Neighborhood is home to 20 residents.

• Asbury Home Services, a licensed home care program, is available to assist    residents in need of supportive assistance at Springhill and to Erie residents not residing at Springhill.  Assistance is available on an ongoing basis or for short-term care after surgery, illness or as respite to relieve a caregiver.

• Springhill’s residential living options include seven floor plans with a wide range of prices and entrance fees.  All residences offer maintenance-free living. 

• ForestView health center is Medicare- and Medicaid-certified offering priority access to Springhill residents and direct admission to those coming from area hospitals and rehabilitation centers.

• Residents at Springhill have access to Asbury Foundation’s Benevolent Care program, which provides support for residents who deplete their financial resources through no fault of their own.  Since its founding, Springhill has never asked a resident to leave due to the inability to pay. 

• Many of Springhill’s approximately 270 associates work in hospitality-related or health-care positions.

• In 2018, Asbury Springhill was named one of the best work places for Aging Services in Fortune magazine.

• Less than 10 minutes from Lake Erie, Springhill is located on 45 wooded acres with walkways and trails spanning the property, a pond, outdoor gardens and greenhouse.  Other amenities include a library, social lounge, full-service restaurant and bar, café with outdoor dining patio, all faiths chapel, computer lab, two privately operated hair salons, community room, fitness center and underground parking garage with plans to add an Aquatic Center in 2019.

• All Asbury communities’ campuses utilize a multi-dimensional wellness program focusing on six components; physical, emotional, social, intellectual, vocational and spiritual aspects of each person’s life.

• Springhill has received numerous performance excellence and quality awards. It renewed its CARF accreditation in 2017, and is EAGLE accredited as well.

• In 2016, Jane Gibson, Executive Director at Springhill, was awarded the Larry Minnix Leading Age Leadership Academy Achievement award.   

• As a founding member of HVA Senior Living Alliance, a not for profit alliance of locally governed senior communities throughout northwest PA, Springhill focuses on best practices in its delivery of care and service to seniors.

• Springhill has achieved the Bronze certification for Planetree, a person centered care philosophy that has been adopted by Asbury. This certification applies to all levels of living.
